A Discussion of Details
Trying to interview our Tailored Twig design team for our team profiles has its challenges, they typically do not like to be put on the spot taking about their life outside of work. Fortunately, we gave our Studio Administrator, Mary, plenty of notice and asked lots of questions about her life here in the Tampa area. This week Mary is celebrating her one-year anniversary with our Tailored Twig family, so we thought it was time to introduce you to the voice on the other end of the phone. A transplant from Rockaway Beach, New York; a little surfer town written about by The Ramones. Coming from the north east, it’s not a surprise that while Mary loves the new-life feeling of spring and feeling like a kid during the summer, she also loves the change of seasons that come with fall and winter. Mary’s background in interior design brings so much to the team, with her understanding of space and event flow. She is super organized and her personality fits in perfectly with our design team. She’s not so secretly obsessed with our studio's Austin Powers pinball machine with a high score of 144,602,280 and she just might be a little bit competitive. We love that she is Wentworth’s biggest fan, and spoils him rotten. At home, she has a crested gecko named Boz Scaggs and two rescue kitties, Amelia Earhart and Nellie Bly; who live up to their strong female namesakes. Eclectic is the perfect term to describe Mary. From Django to Dave Matthews Band, antiquing to thrift stores, ice hockey to yoga; she enjoys New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc and Russian River Pinots, as well as craft beers and gin. When asked what her last meal on earth would be, she answered in her usual fashion that she would pick four items off the menu and ask the server to surprise her with one of them. Living here nearly seven years, Mary has taken well to Florida life. She makes time to explore Florida’s history and natural beauty, making it to one new place every weekend. She will usually look for places to swim, dive, dip her toes in the water and she even tried cave diving this year. Another aspect of Mary’s life is her desire to give back. Both of her cats are rescues, she regularly participates in beach cleanups and is part of several nature conservancy organizations and donates blood as often as they will let her. When asked the favorite part of her job, Mary answered: Hands down – seeing all of the photos from our clients after their special events. I get to witness everything that happens behind the scenes – from first interactions with newly engaged couples, to the conceptualization process and the painstaking logistics, to the final result and big smiles that come along with it. As you can see Mary is the perfect fit for our Tailored Twig design team!
