A Discussion of Details
Our Tailored Twig’s website and blog showcase our inspiration, design creations and the weddings and events we are honored to be part of, but we wanted to take some time to introduce you to some of our fantastic design team. We started this Tailored Twig Design Team series with our Lead Designer, Daniel. But, next up is our Tailored Twig fearless leader, owner, and principal designer, Darin Bahl! Darin is way more than just a wedding florist and designer; he is the visionary behind the Tailored Twig brand. He is sought after by clients and respected by fellow designers for his fresh, novel approach to floral design. But, we wanted to have a little fun and share a bit about Darin that’s not about floral design. Darin’s hometown is Milwaukee, Wisconsin and a product of his Midwestern upbringing. So, there was little surprise when we asked him what his last meal on earth would be, and he responded, “Grandma’s Pot Roast and mashed potatoes!” Darin’s entrepreneurial spirit keeps him quite busy with new initiatives for Tailored Twig, like teaching floral design classes. {be sure to check out his Floral Design Fundamentals Series this summer at the Epicurean Hotel}. But, in his free time, he loves to travel and explore unique and unusual places around the world. Darin says that if money were no object, he would go to Antarctica. “I want to bear witness to a portion of the world where only nature has developed all of your tactile surroundings, providing an opportunity for inspiration and to breathe life into our designs.” Darin’s favorite season and a favorite travel destination go hand in hand. Autumn and an annual trip to Maine to witness the change of seasons and revisit where he and his husband Gopal were married is at the top of his list. If you ever want to see Darin’s face light up, talk to him about the puppies! He and Gopal have two, and they spend most of their day in the studio with our Tailored Twig team. Buster Brown is a nine-year-old pug/dachshund mix that has been in the family for nearly seven years. And, Wentworth, the newest addition, is a German Shorthaired Pointer just over four months old. He is following in the footsteps of Winthrop, and training to be the Studio Mascot. Occasionally you will find Darin out and about at wedding and events industry events, but you will more than likely find him here in our design studio bringing a design sketch to life or playing a game of ping pong while he brainstorms the next great creation. Be sure to challenge him to a game of ping pong when you come for a meeting! Thank you to the incredible Marc Edwards of Marc Edwards Photographs for capturing these awesome images of Darin at work.
