A Discussion of Details
Our Tailored Twig design loved traveling to Anna Maria Island for Melissa and Mehul’s incredible wedding weekend. This day long Monday wedding was the culmination of a weekend of festivities that blended Indian and American traditions, fun and family. The wedding weekend included a Sangeet filled with music, a morning of yoga, Mehendi and beach bash. Monday morning began with the guys relaxing and having brunch while the ladies spent the morning doing hair and makeup and relaxing for the multiple ceremonies to follow. The afternoon festivities began with the Barrat; Mehul was on horseback and was led down the beach following behind dhol drummers and friends to the mandap for the Indian wedding ceremony. The beachside wedding pavilion was set with a dark wood ceremony structure swagged in light white fabric and accented with boughs of greenery and brilliantly colored florals that included orange roses, white spray roses, veronica and antique hydrangea. Rattan peacock chairs for the couple were accented with brightly colored roses and sat on the mandap atop natural fiber rugs. Clusters of woven lanterns hug above the structure adding texture and interest to the ceremony space. As Melissa and Mehul concluded the traditional Indian wedding ceremony wedding guests enjoyed cocktails and appetizers as final preparations were made for the American wedding ceremony on the beach. The moon gate wedding structure was set against the dunes with the Gulf of Mexico in the background. Italian ruscus, protea and bright orange roses added color to the sleek wooden structure. The perfect setting for the second wedding ceremony. Having changed from traditional Indian attire for the second ceremony, the bridesmaids were dressed in white and carried hoops of soft white and green floral. We love the contrast of the white lace dresses, soft florals and the ornate henna designs. Melissa carried a stunning hand tailored bridal bouquet of pincushion protea, white wax flower, King protea, and quicksand roses. During the beachside wedding ceremony, the wedding pavilion was transformed for an evening of dinner and dancing. A long table anchored the room with the couple’s peacock chairs being repurposed at the head table. The table was draped with a uniquely patterned linen in blue and white. Modern gold metallic vessels lined the table overflowing with textured greenery and florals in shades of pink, peach and orange with collections of votive candles adding a shimmer of light. Reception tables included rustic wooden tables, as well as tables draped in white and more of the uniquely patterned blue and white linen. Modern gold and glass table number and gold metallic vessels contrasted the light wooden chairs, rattan charger plates and blue and white cloth napkins. Stunning collections of florals continued the color story that began with the Indian wedding ceremony with pin cushion protea, hanging burgundy amaranthus and blue thistle adding pops of color and eye-catching texture to the tables. The beach area outside the pavilion was set with lounge furnishings that combined vintage pieces and rattan furniture with soft pink accent pillows and occasional tables filled with soft candlelight and modern vessels with colorful arrangements. The final decorative touch to this day filled with beautiful colors and textures was a trio of simple white wedding cakes on gold platters. Brightly colored oranges, peach and pink florals created a standout detail. Congratulations Melissa and Mehul, our Tailored Twig is thrilled to have been part of this incredible day of celebration! Our Tailored Twig design team loves secrets! Truthfully, we work with couples who add special surprises to their wedding day, companies planning product launches; as well as creations for editorial photos for future ad campaigns. So we have a lot of practice at keeping secrets. This one is a little different in that we were invited to be part of a collaboration for a styled shoot at Sarasota’s incredibly exclusive Waterworks. The Waterworks is a private membership social and business club combining the old with the new, catering to high-end clientele. The amazing building, on the National Register of Historic Places since 1984, the two-story red brick building in downtown Sarasota was designed in 1926 and utilized as the city’s waterworks station. Because of the very exclusive nature of the Waterworks, our Tailored Twig team waited on approval of all of the images; showing incredible wedding details and tiny glimpses of the rustic, industrial interior. Balancing beautiful red brick, industrial windows, black metal and clean lines was the perfect opportunity to create uniquely textured, hand tailored, one of a kind elements The setting was perfect for this modern, single specimen bridal bouquet incorporating striking White Queen Protea and a wide organic, natural fiber ribbon. The curves and colors of the blooms entwined with the darker ribbon with its stiff texture popped against the bride’s modern lace wedding gown with plunging neckline. One of our favorite creations is this stunning straight line bridal bouquet. With gnarled wood at its base this bouquet winds featherlight leaves with the soft textures of hanging green amaranthus and uses the diverse textures and subtle differences in the colors of Phalaenopsis Orchids, Duchess White Peonies and White Queen Protea. We especially love the way it stands out against the smooth texture of the satin organza ballgown. Two other standout bouquets play in stark contrast to each other. A dark moody modern creation combines unique colors and textures of Dark Purple Calla Lilies, Red Hot Anthurium, bright pink Cymbidium Orchids and Fiddlehead Ferns with a rustic textured satin wrap and palm bark. This is an amazing contrast to this soft, delicate white stem wrapped bouquet. The soft feathery edges of the wrap set the tone for the full soft creamy white roses with ruffled edges, paired with Duchess White Peonies, soft green vine tendrils and soft green thistle. Our Tailored Twig team was sure not to leave the guys out creating magnificent, textured boutonnieres. Each incorporated elements of one of the bouquets with the addition of unique botanicals, metallic wraps and unique accents to make them a one of a kind and unique as each groom. We also had the opportunity to fill some of the Waterworks spaces with amazing floral details that complimented each portion of the styled shoot. From bold colored contemporary ceremony creations to vessels filled with soft green and white tones to pair with rustic tablescapes. Filling the black metal, industrial staircase with cascading vines and accent arrangements in shades of green and white continued the color story, added dimension to the stark industrial surfaces and brought the outside indoors. Our Tailored Twig design team is thrilled to be part of this amazing collaboration and to be able to share a sneak peek into this never before photographed setting. We cannot wait for the opportunity to work with some of the Sarasota Waterworks members to design one of a kind creations for their wedding or upcoming event. Thank you to the amazing professionals we had the pleasure to work with. Kim and Tommy’s luxurious wedding at Sarasota’s Marie Selby Botanical Gardens was filled with unique, hand tailored details in a color story of blush and gold. Wedding ceremonies at Marie Selby Botanical Gardens are known for their majestic trees draped in Spanish moss. They set an elegant backdrop, but the detailing of Kim and Tommy’s wedding went even farther. The pathway to the wedding ceremony was framed with a rustic garden trellis covered with native vines. A swag of soft pink Sweet Eskimo and Quicksand roses, pink spray roses and light pink snapdragons added a focal point to the entrance. The outdoor wedding ceremony was set with white chivari chairs accented with nosegays of delicate pink florals and greenery. Four large gold toned vessels marked the beginning and end of the aisle; overflowing with seeded eucalyptus, Italian ruscus and cottage roses in pink and white with wax flower and snapdragons. A white aisle runner was framed with a blanket of white petals leading to the ceremony space. A cascade of pink hung from the trees above the ceremony space with floral chandeliers of lush greenery, spray roses, light pink ranunculus and giant queen pink protea. Kim wore an elegant modern lace gown and carried a luxurious textured bouquet of Marianne anemone, pink Cozy Cottage roses, Queen Pink protea, Gardenia peonies and seeded eucalyptus. Her wedding party was dressed in shades of pink and rose gold and carried similarly styled bouquets accented with sweet pink roses and snapdragons. Across the gardens, finishing touches were being added to Kim and Tommy’s elegant tented wedding. One of our Tailored Twig design team’s favorite touches for a wedding reception is an elegantly appointed lounge area and they are officially “IN” for 2020. Cream colored vintage chairs and sofa were accented with pink and gold pillow while; glass and gold toned tables added a modern element to the collection. The seating area was finished with rectangular vessels filled with pink and white florals and several styles of votive candles. The ceiling of the reception tent was draped in flowing white fabric with nearly a dozen crystal chandeliers lighting the space. Round guest tables were draped in luxurious soft pink linens and layered with gold rimmed china and stemware. Tall rose gold vessels dotted the room with overhead arrangements, alternating with tables set with arrangements in gold footed vessels. Pink and white wax flower, roses and greenery we accented with Blue Bell thistle, Marianne anemone and pink snapdragons for texture and dimension. A long rustic wooden head table sat at one end of the tent overflowing with a cascade of pink and white blooms, modern glass vessels with floating candles and textured votive candles. Custom gold toned name pieces and lush floral swags marked the bride and groom’s seats. The couple’s amazing cake and unique table display added to the weddings incredible details. A living table of thick greenery, Spanish moss and a skirt of pink and white floral accents held the couple’s four-tiered blush, white and brushed gold wedding cake. A cascade of roses, white astible, wax flower and Italian ruscus wound its way across the wedding cake. Congratulations Kim and Tommy, our Tailored Twig design team is thrilled to have been part of your incredible wedding!
