A Discussion of Details
Tailored Twig had the pleasure of working with Derek and Herman earlier this year on their stunningly beautiful wedding at the Historic Spanish Point in Osprey, Florida. One of the major décor elements of the wedding reception was a long outdoor lounge area under a raised pergola. The lounge incorporated unique layered elements beginning with creative textured area rugs, layered with collections of Windsor sofas and side chairs in black and white. Sofas were appointed with throw pillows in a variety of styles and textures including black faux fur, bold black and white prints and shimmering gold for a pop of color. Glass coffee tables and assorted side tables in gold, glass and marble were accented with textural floral creations keeping in the same black and white color palette. A long low arrangement in an organic burled wood vessel overflowed with white spray roses, seeded eucalyptus and white wax flower. Smaller side table pieces were adorned with a miniature urn in gold tones with deep ribbed texture, bursting with white astilbe, white wax flower and white spray roses. The floral story that began in the lounge area continued into Derek and Herman’s wedding reception where tables were draped in white linen, layered with wide matte black table runners. Large burnished metallic urns and smaller accent vessels held textural arrangements of white roses, wax flower, astilbe, craspedia and seeded eucalyptus that filled the length of the guest tables. Our Tailored Twig team loved being able to work within this black and white color palette and allow the unique vessels and textural botanical elements to be showcased.

Earlier this year our Tailored Twig design team paired with talented Sarasota wedding professionals to dress the Powel Crosley Estate in a palette of pinks and peaches. Allie and Tim’s wedding at this historic estate that is situated on the Sarasota Bay was an incredible blending of textures and colors. The bride carried a hand tailored bouquet of deep pink peonies, with pink and cream orange roses accented with seeded eucalyptus. Allie’s wedding party was dressed in blush and carried bouquets similar to hers, each adding gradually more of the lighter roses. Guests were welcomed to the couple’s outdoor wedding ceremony at the edge of Sarasota Bay but metallic wire urns brimming in gradient shades of pink, peach and warm oranges. The unique arrangement included incredible king protea, soft roses, dusty miller, and snapdragons. Rustic wooden church pews were adorned with soft throw pillows and bouquets of roses wrapped in ivory satin ribbon hung along the aisle. Allie and Tim exchanged vows under a metal framed wedding arch draped in a thick lush rope of willow eucalyptus, which fluttered in the wind. Small nosegays of roses and protea dotted the rope adding elegant pops of color against the background of the water. Their dinner was hosted under a breathtaking clear tent which provided an awesome view of the sunset and night sky. Long wooden dining tables were lined with a simple lace runner which accented a tablescape of floating candles, white lanterns, and mercury glass votive cups. Brass and bronze toned modern geometric vessels incorporated single king protea blooms or small clusters of botanicals keeping in the color theme from their wedding ceremony. Floating from the ceiling in the center of the tent were modern cylinder lights and floral blooms in pinks and peaches mixed with simple greenery. This contemporary ceiling treatment popped against the night sky and framed the dance floor below. The blending of the traditional and contemporary, the soft and the textured created a one of a kind wedding against the backdrop of the Mediterranean mansion.

Not just any space, but the Gathering at the Armature Works; a massive 10,000 square foot industrial event space in the Tampa Heights neighborhood adjacent to the Hillsborough River. This unique space blends the historical old brick elements of the Armature Works with modern elements, including exposed steel beams that reveal a 20 foot high ceiling. Adding visual interest in a space this large is no small task and the key is creating unique focal points at multiple levels throughout the space. Our vision was to create two floral chandeliers suspended from the ceiling that framed either end of the head table. Our incredible Tailored Twig design team of Darin, Daniel and Nicole set out to tackle this immense design. After the conceptualization, sketches and planning comes the “How To”: The actual construction of the floral chandelier had to be done upright and hanging as this was an element that would be seen from underneath and had a 360 degree view. Our designers constructed a tall metal shelving unit from which we could suspend the framing of the chandelier that measured close to six foot in length. Once the framing was secured we set about the task of adding greenery, seeded eucalyptus and magnolia leaves as the base to cover the mechanics and support system. Then the fun began. The team began by inserting beautiful full blooms of antique pink hydrangea. The shading of pale green and burgundy tipped hydrangea added volume and depth. The second step was layering in elegant Quicksand roses; a stunning beige rose that really popped next to the dusty greens of the antique hydrangea. Then came Baccara roses with their deep burgundy, almost ruby color, darker edges and velvety texture added warmth and set off the brilliant white cymbidium orchids bringing a level of sophistication to the chandelier. We cannot wait to see the final images of Lauren and Grymes’ wedding to share the completed version of these breathtaking chandeliers and the other stunning design elements from their wedding day.
Earlier this year our Tailored Twig team had the honor of being invited to be part of a team of incredible wedding and event professionals to produce a styled shoot in Miami Beach; at the Villa Casa Casuarina, formerly known as the Versace Mansion. This luxurious boutique hotel is built in the Mediterranean Revival style of architecture with all of the amazing opulence of the period. The Versace brand is known for its innovative designs with flashy prints and bright colors. Creating luxurious, textured and inventive floral creations for the event spaces was our design teams’ dream. We are so excited to share with you some of the behind the scenes images of the shoot as the designs came to life. From elegantly attired models to opulent gilded rooms we had palettes beyond our imagination. The possibilities are amazing when styling a bride and groom in a space with a backdrop of inlaid floors, plaster reliefs and ornate murals. Dressing the groom in a retro heather colored tuxedo and the bride in a Grecian style floral lace wedding gown with golden hues offered incredible opportunities to blend classic and very modern floral designs. We accessorized the groom with a simple hand tailored boutonniere made up of a single bloom, greenery and a modern metallic element. The stem wrapped bridal bouquet combined bold elements and tropical colors with softer more traditional florals. We creating interest by mixing the texture of blue thistle against the unique shapes of tropical blooms and lush pale pink cottage roses. The gilded dining room with its ornately stenciled walls, oversized ivory and gold upholstered chairs, and a gold edged mirrored table longed for a pop of color and a textural organic element. A tablescape of organic, natural wood and rustic modern vessels overflowing with pops of raspberry, peach and beige with long tendrils and coarse rustic touches created the needed balance against the shimmer and gold. The second space was remarkably simple with pale colored, unadorned walls with a mosaic tile floor of flowers and topiaries. The space was set with a long rectangular table, modern lace tablecloth and clear acrylic chairs. The floral design resembled a modern trellis with wooden cross pieces resting on tall slender bronze finished vases. Ornamental cabbage and lush greenery were accented with striking white roses, white and green tulips, thistle and smaller textural floral details in white, cream and pale green. The garden continued with randomly sized bronze containers filling the center of the table. Our third Tailored Twig design blended a tall contemporary gold urn overflowing with soft white florals and we weaved in variegated white and pale green foliage. The stark branches with bold green botanicals snaked their way toward the gold scalloped ceiling. Our design team relished in the opportunity to create so many vastly different, yet equally lush and luxurious floral creations for the same editorial styled shoot.
