A Discussion of Details
The incredible opulence of Sarasota’s Ringling Ca’d’Zan Mansion and the Ringing Museum and Courtyard were all the inspiration our Tailored Twig design team needed when working with Rebecca and Michael.
This “From Inspiration To Creation” blog post focuses on the design of the couple’s sweetheart table.
The original inspiration sketch began with a rectangular sweetheart table draped in a luxurious pleated linen. The tablescape consisted of a pair of interlinked topiary circles, several groupings of floating candles and a number of votive candles.
As other details of the wedding began taking shape, the scale and luxe of the wedding reception and especially of the sweetheart table, morphed into an incredible garden scape reflecting the Ringling Courtyard.
Rebecca and Michael’s wedding began just after a magnificent Sarasota sunset. Their traditional Jewish wedding ceremony was performed on the Ca’d’Zan Mansion Terrace, followed by a cocktail reception on the Campiello Patio.
Wedding guests were transported to the Courtyard of the Ringling Museum for an incredible evening of dinner and dancing.
The original pencil sketch inspiration took on inspiration from this magnificent courtyard.
The couple’s turned leg wooden sweetheart table sat overlooking the gardens and a series of long feasting tables for guests. The gardens were dotted with elegant crystal chandeliers; the largest hanging above the couple’s table.
The intertwined circles of Italian ruscus sat atop textured square vessels on the front of the table, weaving their way around tall gold candelabras.
Clusters of white peonies, Ester light pink roses, snapdragons, wax flower and silver eucalyptus softened the front corners of the table. Clear goblets with floating candles and gold votive cups filled the center of the table.
A majestic, ornate garden bench was the perfect contrast and seating choice for this table with clean lines and the perfect garden setting.
Asymmetry, and the unexpected were the elements that made this sweetheart table successful. Raising one of the candelabras, using two circles with three floating candles on one side of the table with the reverse on the other side created interest.
The curving Italian ruscus, blush and white botanicals, tall gold risers and floating candles were themes that continued across the garden on the long wooden guest tables.
Marie Selby Gardens was the ideal location for Allison and Matthew’s Sarasota wedding and our Tailored Twig design team loved creating this shimmering wedding.
Their wedding was created using all white flowers, subtle touches of gold to accent this magnificent wedding with layers and layers of glass, acrylic and crystals.
Allison’s hand tailored bridal bouquet was created with Duchess peonies, garden roses, white tulips and white dahlias. This monochromatic bouquet with just a hint of greenery perfectly accessorized her form fitting modern lace wedding gown.
Matthew wore a simple white dahlia with a single stem of veronica, while his groomsmen each wore a white tulip. Each were hand wrapped in black ribbon to match their classic black tuxedos.
The couple exchanged their wedding vows under a clear chuppah with a waterfall of white Phalaenopsis orchids and hanging green amaranthus cascading over the front edge of the wedding structure.
In keeping with the feel of the chuppah, wedding guests were seated on clear ghost chairs. The aisle of their outdoor wedding ceremony was marked by two asymmetrical arrangements of phalaenopsis orchids, white roses, dahlias, Italian ruscus and hanging amaranthus resting on clear rectangular risers.
While guests enjoyed a waterfront cocktail reception they were able to find their seating assignments for the wedding reception listed on this clear seating chart hung in an oversized white frame.
The Selby Gardens’ ballroom was set with round tables draped in off white soft linen with mirrored tops, surrounding a long glass head table. Tables were set with clear class charger plates layered with custom menus, floating candles in clear glass goblets and antique glass votives.
Gold ballroom chairs, vessels and risers added a luster and a pop of color around the shimmering glass and white flowers. Gold metal risers lifted full luxurious arrangements of white hydrangea, Tibet roses, white tulips, snapdragons and white delphinium accented with pepper berry greens, amaranthus and long stems of white orchids.
The tablescape of the long glass head table was dotted with unique gold vessels overflowing with white orchids, ranunculus, spray roses and dahlias.
The chairs for the bride and groom in the center of the room were draped with stems of orchids, garden roses and snapdragons.
Congratulations Allison and Matthew, we know this was the wedding weekend of your dreams.
Thank you to all of the wedding professionals who made this day so amazing.

A February evening at Bay Preserve at Osprey was the perfect time and place for Emma and Jason’s amazing wedding.
Their custom wedding invitations with a hunter green modern calligraphy font set the tone for the wedding décor and color story.
Emma’s magnificent, large, loose bridal bouquet of greenery including monstera, calathea leaves, Italian ruscus was the perfect base for the explosion of green thistle, protea and nearly a dozen cymbidium orchids.
This sensational hand tailored bouquet was the perfect accessory to her simple and elegant wedding gown with sweeping train.
The eight ladies in her wedding party each wore a different color full length dress, so the simplicity of interesting greenery with touches of white floral were the ideal bouquet selection.
Emma and Jason’s outdoor wedding ceremony was set with bamboo chairs, a swag of seeded eucalyptus and cymbidium orchids marked the reserved seats. Two tall gold metal urns overflowing with greenery marked the location where the couple would exchange their wedding vows, with Little Sarasota Bay as the perfect backdrop.
The lush tented outdoor wedding reception was set with round tables and crisp white linens, surrounded by bamboo chairs.
Each place setting was layered with a rattan charger plate, monstera leaf, a custom lettered menu card, and gold flatware which created layers and layers of texture and interest.
The tablescapes included eclectic collections of metal toned vessels filled with bells of Ireland, white hypericum berries, snapdragons and cymbidium orchids surrounded by floating candles in clear glass vessels and gold acrylic table numbers.
In the center of each collection stood a tall gold trumpet vase overflowing with fantail palms and hanging phalaenopsis orchids.
Emma and Jason were seated at a round sweetheart table draped in garland, seeded eucalyptus and orchids accented with floating candles and votives. The couple’s seats were adorned with clusters of Italian ruscus.
The beautiful color story created by lush, unique greenery with touches of luxurious white florals and touches of gold set a relaxed but lux backdrop for Emma and Jason’s wedding day.
Congratulations Emma and Jason, we are honored to be part of your wedding day.
Thank you to the all of the wedding professionals who were part of this beautiful Sarasota wedding.

The Tailored Twig floral design team worked with Allie and Tim to create a breathtaking Powel Crosley Estate wedding in a palette of pink.
The first design element was a floral arch for their Sarasota wedding ceremony structure. The original sketch captured a wedding arch created of natural wood elements draped with a soft rope of greenery and dotted with beautiful blooms.
This one beautiful creation influenced the hand tailored floral creations that flowed through the rest of Allie and Timothy’s wedding day.
The final creation, taken from the original inspiration, included two large vessels to anchor the wedding structure. The thin metal framed arch was woven with natural branches and draped with a thick, lush rope of willow eucalyptus that swayed in the gentle breezes blowing off the water.
The luxurious rope of greenery was accented with several giant pink King Protea and clusters of roses in a variety of shades of pink with touches of greenery in softer tones.
The floral swag trailed effortlessly across the ceremony structure, creating the perfect backdrop for Allie and Tim’s waterfront wedding ceremony.
Additional decorative elements of the wedding ceremony continued the design concept of the original inspiration sketch.
Rustic wooden church pews were adorned with nosegays of roses and snapdragons in hues of pink attached with a satin ribbon. Metal wire urns marked the beginning of the aisle, overflowing with astilby, roses, snapdragons, and protea in a color story of pinks, accented with dusty miller and eucalyptus.
Our Tailored Twig design team loved working with Allie and Tim and taking one simple sketch of a wedding structure, bringing it to life and carrying the vision throughout their wedding day.

To say that Emily and Robert’s wedding was out of this world would be an understatement. Their beautiful Sarasota wedding at Selby Gardens is definitely very different from anything our Tailored Twig team has showcased on our blog.
This Star Wars themed wedding could not be more perfect for this week.
Emily’s hand tailored bridal bouquet was an explosion of delicate trumpet shaped purple and white Picasso calla lilies wrapped in delicate lace reflecting her wedding gown.
Robert’s boutonniere included a single Picasso calla lily, veronica and a textural accent, the perfect accompaniment to his navy-blue tuxedo.
A banyan tree on the south side of the Selby gardens set the backdrop for their wedding ceremony.
A geometrically shaped metal arbor was the foundation for a unique, perfectly themed wedding ceremony structure. Draped in swirling banyan root, lush green amaranthus and purple and blue dendrobium orchids, the ceremony structure was elegantly tied to the Star Wars theming.
Wedding guests enjoyed the Rainforest before moving to the north side of the gardens and the Michael’s On The Bay Ballroom for dinner and dancing.
The ballroom was set with soft lush navy blue linen, layered with geometric gold charger plates, navy blue napkins and custom menu cards. Gold and black flatware, gold rimmed stemware, mercury glass votive candles and high gloss black chiavari chairs added additional shimmer and dimension to the décor.
Collections of uniquely textured botanicals made the room come alive, layering color, texture and interesting materials. Our Tailored Twig designers began with unique black ceramic and gunmetal vessels with interesting lines and detailing.
Each table was uniquely appointed with hand tailored floral collections including soft pink spiked King protea, dianthus, white campanula, snapdragons, and thistle as well as Inca gold leucadendron, blushing protea, bells of Ireland, open cut calla lilies, pepper berry and Picasso calla lilies. Taller arrangements were draped in green amaranths adding long lines and interesting visual.
Multi-level lighting that included shimmering candlelight, pin spots on centerpieces and soft up lighting to wash the walls in light all enhanced the dramatic look of this wedding décor.
While it does not include any floral accents, we have to share this fantastic five-tiered wedding cake that completed the Star Wars theme of Emily and Robert’s wedding.
Congratulations Emily and Robert, may the force be with you!
Thank you to all of the talented wedding professionals that brought this unique wedding to life.
