A Discussion of Details
This past fall Tailored Twig had the pleasure of working with Sonia and LJ on their timeless and classic wedding at the amazing Vinoy Renaissance Hotel in downtown St Petersburg. Sonia and LJ wanted to incorporate family into their wedding with a classic refined look. Using a color palate of rose gold, blush, cream and gold, our design team was able to create a look that would be timeless when the couple looked back on their wedding photographs. Sonia’s beautiful hand tailored bridal bouquet consisted of white garden roses, white ranunculus, white peonies and eskimo roses with soft pink senorita and quicksand roses peeking out. The handtied bridal bouquet was wrapped with a soft white textured ribbon. Tied to Sonia’s bouquet were two medallions that belonged to her grandparents who are no longer with us. Her grandmother and grandfather had gifted the medallions to each other on their 50th wedding anniversary. Another sentimental accessory was her earrings, Sonia wore the earrings her father gifted her mother on their wedding day. After their wedding ceremony at Espiritu Santo Catholic Church in Safety Harbor, the couple and their guests returned to the Vinoy Renaissance for a night of dinner and dancing. The historic hotel is located on the Bayfront in downtown St Petersburg. This Mediterranean Revival hotel that originally opened in 1925 had the classic, timeless beauty the couple was looking for in their wedding design. The wedding reception was hosted in the hotel’s Grand Ballroom with beautiful period detailing and a stunning Chihuly chandelier. The couple sat at a sweetheart table inside a feature frame of thick, lush florals with hanging glass candle orbs. The frame was adorned with antique and white hydrangea, garden roses in pale blush and white as well as white ranunculus, ivory spray roses and seeded eucalyptus. The tables for 250 wedding guests alternated between arrangements on tall gold and glass risers and low collections of flowers in gold mercury glass vessels. All of the arrangements included the same colors and specimen flowers found in the couple’s sweetheart table structure. Gold chivari ballroom chairs and soft gold lighting competed this stunning design. The final design element was the thick cascade of flowers flowing down the couple’s five-tiered buttercream wedding cake. The quicksand and senorita roses added a warm glow to the cake and the addition of white freesia brought in a beautiful scent and texture. Congratulations Sonia and LJ, we are glad you loved this classic floral design as much as our Tailored Twig design team enjoyed creating it.

Not too long ago our Tailored Twig design team had the opportunity to partner with some of our wedding colleagues in Sarasota to create a styled shoot for The Art Ovation Hotel, part of the Marriott Autograph Collection. This luxurious new hotel which recently opened in downtown Sarasota required hand tailored décor elements as unique as the hotel. The hotel features local artists working in an onsite studio, exhibits of local artwork and you will also find sketchpads and colored pencils in each guest room. The styled wedding shoot featured a modern vibe in shades of yellow with touches of blue, lots of signature Tailored Twig textural elements and a touch of rustic charm. A unique triangular ceremony structure was elegant in its simplicity. A simple wooden structure studded with clusters of French tulips, yellow roses, campanula garden roses, astrantia and greenery. The brides bouquet was an explosion of color with huge full campanula garden roses, blue thistle, astrantia and brilliant, uniquely shaped gloriosa lilies. Tulip magnolia branches extended from this hand tailored creation to add dimension and interest. The groom’s boutonnière complimented the bridal bouquet with a gloriosa lily, air plant and brilliant round craspedia. The reception décor was created under a fabulous round ceiling treatment with cylindrical hanging lights. The rustic wooden table was paired with bench seating topped with lush fabric throws and accent pillows as well as modern metal chairs. The tablescape was a blending of organic and structural elements. The vessels of bone imported from Africa overflowed with collections of color blocked botanicals and colorful creations which included pin cushion protea, ornamental kale, burnt banksia, white hypericum berries and budding branches. Mixing these creations with ornate gold picture frames, small metallic urns of blooms and rustic yellow plates topped with dark napkins, a single French tulip bloom next to an artist paint brush added a rustic touch with personalization and fun. Our Tailored Twig design team is thrilled to have been part of the creation of this styled shoot.

Sasha’s vision to have a wedding that struck a note with every sense was truly accomplished. They wanted a day that was warm and romantic with cozy refinement and the deep rich tones of their décor surely brought every detail together. The bride’s exquisite hand tailored bridal bouquet was a lush cascade of color and texture featuring cranberry red peonies, Lily of the Valley, rich burgundy cymbidium orchids, privet berry, burgundy dahlias, Ester light pink roses, tiny Blushing Bride protea, eucalyptus and deep red hanging amaranthus. A striking compliment to Sasha’s fit and flare gown of delicate ivory lace and cathedral length veil. The entrance to the red brick church welcomed guests with a trellis of lush garland, studded with King Protea, touches of burgundy and wispy pink spray roses and darker pink Lady Katherine roses. The couple’s wedding ceremony inside the ornately adorned Greek Orthodox church with its murals, gold trim and stained glass only needed a few delicate understated floral touches. The aisle of the church was covered in a blanket of white and ivory cream rose petals with small hand tied bouquets of botanicals on the softer side of the color palette and a delicate garland with touches of tiny white blossoms framing the couple on the altar. Tampa’s historic Palma Ceia Golf and Country Club hosted Sasha and Wade’s wedding reception. Deep rich florals blended with soft creams, whites and pinks as well as gold accents and a touch of shimmer created that warm cozy feel. A round entry table held family photographs under a tree of lush greenery enveloped in a wide cascading flow of tightly packed roses; beginning in pink growing gradually lighter, ending in stark white. The ballroom contained tall gold risers overflowing with thick greenery, deep burgundy dahlias with the texture of King Protea adding stark contrast to the soft color and texture of cream, pink and blush roses. These tall risers sat atop tables which were covered in a unique swirled marbled linen. Other guest tables were dressed in dark textural linen with a bed of florals at the base of a simple gold candelabra while others held clusters of unique gold vessels bursting with several varieties of eucalyptus, huge King Protea, touches of burgundy, soft garden roses and wax flower. Sasha and Wade were seated at a sweetheart table in the center of the space with a luxurious living wall of trees as its backdrop. The semicircular table shimmered with sparkling linen that was draped in a rope of garland, with dusty miller and clusters of burgundy, pink and cream One of the most amazing focal points of the wedding reception would have to be Sasha and Wade’s breathtaking wedding cake. Each layer of the five-tiered wedding cake had a unique texture and gold ornamentation. This stunning cake rested on a clear glass table with a few simple burgundy blooms. The glass table hovered over a magnificent bed of greenery, accents of pink, and cream roses and a cascade of deep burgundy amaranthus. We are thrilled with Sasha’s kind words and know they sum up our floral creations. The flowers were my favorite detail. My florist used a wide variety of flowers! I loved the mixture of King Protea's, roses, red Amaranthus, and varied wintery/fall greens. The importance of flowers and cohesive design of the entire day was incredibly important to me Congratulations Sasha and Wade!
